Cabana is a six-song love letter to ’80s computer audio hardware, full of tinny snares and warm, swirling keyboard textures. Singer Lauren Gray’s laid-back harmonies enhance the songs, adding soft curves to all of those harsh technological edges. You can’t overestimate the importance of that performance: while many of Treewave’s peers are content simply to speak-sing, Gray dabbles in proper vocal harmonies. If you’re still on the fence about electro-pop, the Cabana EP could be the disc that finally wins you over.
